Creator brief checklist
If you can answer all of these from the document alone, a creator can too.
Scope
- Is there exactly one primary objective?
- Is every deliverable given a count, format and platform?
- Is the video or stream length specified as a range, not 'a few minutes'?
- Is cross-posting allowed, and to where?
Timing
- Does every date include a time zone?
- Is the approval turnaround stated in hours or business days?
- Does the publish date leave enough time after build access?
- If there's an embargo, is the lift time exact?
Access
- Is it clear how and when the creator receives the game?
- Is the build version and platform named?
- Is there a support contact for access failures?
- Are server, region or online requirements mentioned?
Content
- Are spoiler limits defined by specific content, not 'use judgment'?
- Is the balance between required talking points and creator freedom explicit?
- Is in-game music addressed for platforms that flag audio?
- Is the primary audience action one single thing?
Commercials
- Do usage rights state scope, territory and duration?
- Does exclusivity name the titles and the period?
- Are fee and payment terms in the document?
- Is required disclosure wording and placement specified?
