Gaming creator brief template
Every section below exists because its absence causes a specific, predictable problem.
1. Campaign summary
One paragraph: the game, the moment (launch, update, season, tournament), and the single thing this campaign is meant to achieve. If you can't name one objective, the creative direction will contradict itself later.
2. Deliverables
- Exact count and format: 1 × 8–12 minute YouTube video, 2 × 30–60 second verticals.
- Platform for each item, including cross-posting rights.
- Minimum on-screen gameplay time if it matters.
- Whether a livestream counts, and the minimum stream duration.
3. Timing
- Build/key delivery date, publish window, and every date with an explicit time zone.
- Draft submission date and approval turnaround in business hours.
- Embargo lift date and time, if there is an embargo.
4. Game access and technical
- Platform and build version, plus patch timing that could change what's on screen.
- How keys or codes arrive and who to contact when access fails.
- Region-locked servers, online requirements, or preview build stability warnings.
5. Content rules
- Spoiler boundaries by chapter, area or feature — not just 'no spoilers'.
- Music and licensed audio guidance for capture.
- Required talking points versus a full script — say which.
6. Call to action and measurement
One primary action for the audience, the exact link or code, and what you will judge the campaign on. If the objective is awareness, don't measure it on wishlists alone.
7. Rights, exclusivity and payment
- Usage rights: what, where, how long, whether paid amplification is included.
- Exclusivity: which competing titles, which territory, for how long.
- Fee, payment terms, and whether bonuses depend on performance.
- Required disclosure wording and placement.
